Keyboard Shortcuts

There are several ways to use Memex with keyboard shortcuts.

When being on a page

These shortcuts are the default options. You can change them via the Memex settings.

  • Save current page: option(mac)/alt(win) + s
  • Add tag(s) to current page: option(mac)/alt(win) + x
  • Add current page to collection(s): option(mac)/alt(win) + c
  • Add a note to current page: option(mac)/alt(win) + e
  • Create highlight on selected text: option(mac)/alt(win) + a
    • Make automatically shared and create link + shift
  • Create highlight with note on selected text: option(mac)/alt(win) + w
    • Make automatically shared and create link + shift
  • Toggle highlights on/off: option(mac)/alt(win) + h
  • Open annotation sidebar: option(mac)/alt(win) + q

When editing a note

  • Save in private state: cmd(mac)/ctrl(win) + Enter
  • Save in private & protected state: option(mac)/alt(win) + Enter
  • Save in shared state: cmd(mac)/ctrl(win) + Shift + Enter
  • Save in shared & protected state: option(mac)/alt(win) + Shift + Enter

Important Note

  • With some web apps, or external apps like 'Vim', keyboard shortcut conflicts can happen or don't work. For example on Notion pages, like the one you currently view, the shortcuts don't work.
    • Alternatively you can tag, star and sort via the menu that opens when you click on the little "brain icon in the top right corner of the browser

Support a Venture Capital free service

We want to protect users and their data from profit maximisation incentives resulting from uncapped profit potential. Memex is built without equity-based Venture Capital investments and caps investor and team profits . We want to build a service that people are willing to pay for because it solves problems for them, not grow at all costs with free services to then build privacy violating business models on top.

If Memex is already useful, you can see yourself using it for a few years or you want to support an alternative way of running a business, you can support us with our $150 Pioneer plan while we are in beta. In return it'll give you (at least) 3 years of Memex subscriptions once we launch them.
