Annotate & Share PDFs

With Memex you can annotate locally stored and web-accessible PDFs, and even share and discuss them with others who don’t have Memex installed.

Opening PDFs in the annotation reader

To open a PDF simply drag/open it in one of your tabs, then click on the “Annotate & Summarize” button on top of the PDF.

Highlighting Text

Once you are in the reader, highlighting is just the same as on websites. Simply select some text and then use either the tooltip or your hotkeys. More info 📝Highlights & Notes on Websites

Screenshot based anntoations

For anything non-textual you can use our screenshots to annotate. They’ll automatically create a snapshot of the framed area, and link it, so if you click on the annotation card it will scroll to the right place.

Sharing PDFs

Sharing anntotated PDFs is just like sharing websites with the addition that your PDF are uploaded so they are accessible also to your readers and colleagues.

Please only share PDFs you have the legal right to distribute (usually in small collaborations its considered fair use though widely sharing may be considered breach of copyright)
